New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025 today at Bharat Mandapam in Delhi. The six-day event, running until January 9, is themed “Building a Resilient Rural India for a Viksit Bharat 2047.” It aims to enhance rural infrastructure, foster self-reliance, and inspire innovation across rural communities in India.
Focus on Rural Empowerment and Sustainability
The Mahotsav is designed to promote economic stability and financial security for rural populations. It places special emphasis on financial inclusion and sustainable agriculture, particularly in the North-East region of the country. Officials have highlighted plans to empower rural women through entrepreneurship, build a roadmap for collective rural transformation, and encourage the adoption of technology and innovative practices to boost rural livelihoods.
The event will also celebrate India’s cultural richness, featuring vibrant performances and exhibitions that showcase the traditions of rural communities. Stakeholders from various sectors are expected to collaborate on strategies for driving rural development.
Key Initiatives Highlighted
In a move aligning with the event’s goals, Prime Minister Modi recently inaugurated 1,675 newly constructed flats under the In-Situ Slum Rehabilitation Project for residents of JJ clusters. During a ceremony at Swabhiman Apartments in Ashok Vihar, the Prime Minister handed over keys to beneficiaries, symbolizing a step towards providing better living conditions for slum dwellers.
Under this project, eligible residents contribute less than 7% of the total construction cost of Rs.25 lakh per flat. This includes a nominal contribution of Rs.1.42 lakh and Rs.30,000 for five years of maintenance. The initiative aims to create healthier and more dignified living environments for underserved communities.
Vision for Viksit Bharat 2047: Empowering Rural India for a Self-Reliant Future
The Grameen Bharat Mahotsav 2025 reflects the government’s ambitious vision for a self-reliant, prosperous, and globally leading India by the year 2047. This initiative is not merely a celebration; it is a transformative platform focused on empowering rural communities to play a pivotal role in the nation’s growth journey. With a comprehensive approach, the Mahotsav targets critical sectors including rural entrepreneurship, robust infrastructure development, financial inclusion, and the preservation of India’s rich cultural heritage.
By nurturing entrepreneurship, the program aims to transform rural innovators into key drivers of economic progress. Improved infrastructure ensures better connectivity and opportunities for rural regions, while financial inclusion empowers individuals with access to banking, credit, and digital services. Additionally, the emphasis on cultural preservation underscores the importance of safeguarding traditions and values that define the essence of India.
