Kozhikode: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the year-long celebrations of leading Malayalam daily Mathrubhumi on Friday, March 18, via video-conferencing, the PMO said in a statement.
Mathrubhumi media was founded on March 18, 1923, and has been at the vanguard of promoting social reforms and development agendas while highlighting issues of national importance, according to the organisation.
There are 15 editions of the newspaper and 11 magazines. By preserving the values of 'Truth, Equality, and Independence,' Mathrubhumi has always been at the vanguard of the freedom struggle. PM Modi will address the event, which will take place at the Calicut Trade Center (Sarovaram) at 10.30 a.m. on Friday.
The Chief Minister of Kerala, Pinarayi Vijayan, will deliver the keynote address through online. M V Shreyams Kumar, Managing Director of Mathrubumi, will give the welcome address. The occasion will be presided over by P V Chandran, Chairman and Managing Editor of Mathrubhumi. The stone inscriptions will be unveiled by M T Vasudevan Nair. The welcoming message will be delivered by P V Nidhish, Joint Managing Editor. The vote of thanks will be given by Mayura Shreyams Kumar, director of Digital Business.
Mathrubhumi Books, the company's other business, publishes books on a wide range of contemporary issues.
