NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a letter to all vaccinators appreciating their endeavors as India crossed the COVID-19 vaccination landmark of administering 200 crore doses to its citizens.

In a letter of congratulations to the vaccinators, Prime Minister Modi said, "The magnitude and speed that India gave to the world's largest vaccination programme has been spectacular and this has happened due to the efforts of people like you."

"On January 16, 2021, we began the COVID-19 vaccination program, and on July 17, 2022, we reached a new milestone. India accomplished the milestone of 200 billion vaccinations on that day, making it a historic one for the nation. This is a significant victory in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic "According to PM Modi's letter.

"The protection of Indians has been greatly aided by our vaccine providers, medical professionals, healthcare support personnel, and frontline staff. This is a wonderful illustration of doing your duty and stepping up when it counts", he said.

The COVID-19 vaccination programme has left no one behind and demonstrated that New India excels at last-mile delivery from the coldest highlands to the hottest deserts, from remote villages to dense forests,  Modi mentioned in the letter.

In India, notably, 98% of adults have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccination, and 90% have received all three doses, according to the Health Ministry updates.
