Polavaram Project Authority (PPA) and water resources department officials have given special attention to completing the Polavaram project within the time frame. The project headworks (reservoir) are working to quickly approve 30 pending designs with the CWC. The Central Water and Power Research Station (CWPRS) in Pune is studying the guidebund design on the left bank of the approach channel to divert flood water over the spillway. Polavaram project is being built in a 3-D model in an acre area and is studying the design. A team of PPA officials are going to Pune on Monday to examine the study and send the design to the CWC.

Next week, the Polavaram project will hold a meeting of DDRP (Dam Design Review Panel) and approve the pending designs at the contractor (agency), state water resources department and CWPRS. It decided to send them to the CWC. By passing the pending designs by February, the government has set the target of completing the project within the stipulated time frame. The Polavaram project was reviewed at the field level on 14th of last month. The pending designs have been approved in February and the authorities have been directed to complete the project to provide water to the ayacut by 2022.

The flood starts from the second week of June to Godavari. In the same way, the spillway, the spill channel, the upper and lower coffer dams should be completed. Only then can the ECRF (Earth Rock Fill Dam) work be completed by diverting the Godavari flood over the spillway. In this background, the Ppa and water resources department officials have focused on the approval of the pending designs for the spillway, spill channel and coffer dams. Based on the CWPRS study on the key designs of the project, the designs have been modified The CWC will be sent to the DDRP, which is headed by retired chairman Ab Pandya. The CWC will approve the designs of DDRP OKAY. Officials are working to approve 30 pending designs in the same way.
