Hyderabad: In a recent development, authorities have detained four individuals for unlawfully entering India from Bangladesh. The suspects, namely Mohammad Azad alias Sheikh Azad, Mohammad Robin Miya, Mohammad Alamin Hossain, and Mohammed Mohin, belong to various regions of Jhenaidah district in southwestern Bangladesh. They admitted to illegally crossing into India and forging documents to conceal their status.

According to a statement issued by Three-town Inspector of Police Murali on Tuesday, Sub-Inspector Vijaya nabbed the four individuals under suspicion while they were present at a construction site in Safai Basthi, located in Kothagudem town, on Monday.

Upon investigation, officers from the Kothagudem – Bhadrachalam police confiscated counterfeit identity documents, bank passbooks, ATM cards, and mobile phones from the arrested individuals. A case has been filed against them under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code, including Sections 420 (cheating), 468 (forgery), and 471 (using forged documents as genuine). Additionally, they are charged under Section 14A(b) of the Foreigners Act-1946, which pertains to illegal entry or residence in India without valid documentation.

Authorities have urged the public to report any suspicious activities or individuals in their vicinity to the police. This incident follows the recent arrest and imprisonment of four Bangladeshi nationals by Khammam police in early February. These individuals had unlawfully entered India almost twenty years ago and had been residing in Khammam city.

Previously, it was thought that illegal Bangladeshi immigrants primarily concentrated around Hyderabad. However, identifying non-local individuals living in more remote districts of the city presents a significant challenge.
