Memnphis: In a significant development, two police officers in Los Angeles, Michael Christopher Dougherty and Sean William Duncan, have been hit with new charges in connection with the shooting death of 29-year-old Dijon Kizzee. 

Originally charged with involuntary manslaughter and excessive use of force, the officers now also face charges of second-degree murder. The incident, which occurred in March 2023, has ignited a national conversation about police brutality against Black individuals and underscores the urgent need for police reform.

The shooting took place when officers Dougherty and Duncan responded to a disturbance call involving Dijon Kizzee. According to the officers, Kizzee was armed with a knife, but witnesses contested this assertion. Tragically, Kizzee was shot multiple times and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
