New Delhi: The Supreme Court has slammed the Centre and the Delhi government for the pollution problem. The court, while hearing the pollution issue, has asked the two governments to take stringent steps to check pollution at the earliest. The court has sought a response from the Delhi government by Tuesday while asking the Central government to convene an emergency meeting and sit together with the Delhi, Punjab and Haryana governments to find a solution to the pollution problem.

At the hearing, the Central Government told the Supreme Court that stubble burning is not the main cause of pollution in Delhi and northern states at present as it contributes only 10% to pollution. The Supreme Court has sought a reply from the Central and State Governments by Tuesday evening on which industries can be stopped, which trains can be prevented from running and which power plants can be stopped and how can you provide alternative power by then. At the same time, consider applying to work from home. The Supreme Court said transport, industries and means of transport are the most responsible for air pollution. Stubble burning in some areas is also a partner in air pollution.
