Kanpur: An investigation into the rampant violence in Uttar Pradesh in protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) has made it clear that a large chain of the Popular Front of India (PFI) network is in the city. Soon their grab will start. After the involvement of PFI behind the violence, the Kanpur police had no such information to confirm whether the PFI was involved in the Babupurwa and Yatimkhana violence.

The shocking thing is that it was not known to the intelligence agencies. The intelligence department has now started gathering information about this. PFI is considered as another form of Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI). PFI was formed in 2006 after SIMI was banned. SIMI has been involved in terrorist activities. SIMI had deep penetration in Kanpur. That is why PFI has also made the city its destination.

The SIT has started collecting information about the accounts of the accused. Initial investigation has revealed that the transaction of lakhs of rupees from the accounts of the accused has been done recently. Seeking details from the bank, the police is finding out where the money came from and which accounts have been transferred. There are apprehensions that each of the accused has multiple bank accounts.
