Potential Political Shift Looms in Maharashtra as Congress and NCP Leaders Rumored to Join BJP
Share:

It seems speculation and rumors is circulating in Maharashtra about a potential political shakeup in the state. There are claims suggesting that several leaders from Congress and NCP might consider joining the BJP. This includes prominent figures like former Maharashtra Chief Minister Ashok Chavan, Leader of Opposition Vijay Wadettivar from Congress, and Jayant Patil from the NCP.

Although these reports have emerged, all three mentioned leaders have denied any intentions of joining the BJP. However, BJP leaders like Chandrashekhar Bawankule have hinted at the possibility of big political leaders in the state aligning with the party. This speculation has fueled expectations of a significant political transformation in Maharashtra.

The political landscape in Maharashtra has witnessed considerable shifts in recent years. After the 2019 Assembly polls, Shiv Sena ended its alliance with the BJP and joined forces with Congress and NCP to form the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government. Subsequently, internal divisions within Shiv Sena led to a split, resulting in the collapse of the MVA government. Eknath Shinde briefly held the position of Chief Minister with BJP's support. Additionally, a similar split occurred within the NCP, with Ajit Pawar, Sharad Pawar's nephew, leading a faction that joined forces with Eknath Shinde's alliance.

However, it's essential to note that while there's talk of potential defections or alliances, the leaders in question have denied these reports. Political landscapes can be unpredictable, so it remains to be seen whether such a significant shift will indeed take place in Maharashtra's political arena.
