Ujjain: In response to the unfortunate incident at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain during the Holi festival, where 14 individuals were injured due to a fire ignited during the burning of gulal for the Bhasma Aarti, the administration has decided to implement various precautionary measures for the upcoming festival of Rangpanchami on March 30th. These measures aim to prevent similar incidents from occurring again.

The Ujjain District Magistrate, Neeraj Kumar Singh, announced that only herbal colors, specifically made from Tesu (Palash) flowers, will be allowed inside the Mahakaleshwar temple premises during Rangpanchami. Devotees will not be permitted to bring colors from outside. Additionally, the number of devotees participating in the morning Bhasma Aarti will be regulated to ensure safety.

State Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya expressed concerns about the possibility of chemically-laden gulal being responsible for the fire at the temple during Holi. Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav assured that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the cause of the fire, including examining whether the presence of mica or any chemical in the gulal contributed to the incident.

Meanwhile, Dr. Vinod Bhandari, founder president of the Sri Aurobindo Institute of Medical Sciences (SAMS) in Indore, provided an update on the injured individuals. Four more individuals affected by the temple fire have been admitted to the hospital, bringing the total number of patients being treated to 12. Dr. Bhandari stated that the health condition of all patients is improving under the care of specialist doctors.
