Bhubaneswar: The country's President Draupadi Murmu walked a distance of about two km to seek the blessings of Lord Jagannath in Puri, Odisha. During this, devotees also greeted the President while going to the temple. Her Excellency Draupadi Murmu has arrived in Odisha today. When she reached Bhubaneswar today, Her Majesty was welcomed by Odisha Governor Prof Ganeshi Lal, CM Naveen Patnaik and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The President was given a guard of honour on her maiden visit to Odisha.

After that, President Draupadi Murmu reached Puri to see Lord Jagannath and seek blessings. During this time, she covered a distance of about 2 km barefoot, during which she was accompanied by Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. She was constantly walking with them. The video, shared on the President's Twitter account, shows people chanting  Jai Jagannath-Jai Jagannath, during which the President is also greeting the devotees present there. 

President Draupadi Murmu is a resident of Odisha. She was born in Baidaposi village under the Mayurbhanj district. She belongs to a tribal Santhal family. Draupadi Murmu started her career as a teacher and then she also worked as a junior assistant i.e. clerk in the Irrigation Department of Odisha. Murmu ran the household expenses with the salary she got from the job and raised her daughter Iti Murmu.
