New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind of New Delhi expressed his condolences for those who died in the Kanpur bus accident. The President wished those who were injured in the accident a speedy recovery.

The Rashtrapati Bhavan said in a tweet today, "The news of several deaths in the Kanpur bus accident breaks my heart. My heartfelt condolences go out to the families who have lost loved ones in this tragedy. I wish the folks who have been harmed a fast recovery."

According to reports, an electric bus lost control and mowed down many bystanders near the Tat Mill intersection in Kanpur on Sunday, killing at least five people and injuring several more.

"In the accident, the bus totaled three cars and a large number of bicycles. The bus driver has gone missing. We're on the lookout for him "East Kanpur Deputy Commissioner of Police stated.

"The injured have been taken to a nearby hospital, and an investigation into the matter has begun," the DCP added. The investigation into the matter is underway.
