NEW DELHI: The Rajya Sabha began debating the 'Motion of Thanks' to the President's address on Monday.

The debate was started by BJP MP Seema Dwivedi, who said that the Covid-19 outbreak claimed many lives. The government took steps to develop a vaccine against the feared virus, and also provided it to many other countries in the world. She also stated that India is dedicated to reducing the negative effects of climate change.

"Women can accomplish anything men can, and thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, all women can realise their full potential," she continued.

Anand Sharma, a Congress MP, emphasised the significance of Amar Jawan Jyoti, saying that it was originally devoted to troops lost during the Bangladesh war but was combined.

On the economy, employment, and national security, Sharma said, citing an economic assessment, that unemployment in the country is at an all-time high, with 42 crore people unemployed. "We acknowledge that it has had an impact on the economy, which is currently at March 2020 levels, with a debt-to-GDP ratio of 90 percent, which will not be remedied by selling national assets." "Although we are all aware that 1 lakh forces have been placed near the Chinese border, shouldn't this be debated in Parliament? Nehru spoke about the situation in the middle of a war in 1962. We were also told that there will be an in-camera briefing (on China), but nothing has transpired "He made a comment.
