New Delhi: The current shortage of corona vaccine in the country has come to light from several centres, which has led to closure of several centres but the data submitted by the Central Government regarding availability of vaccine with private hospitals is shocking. Official data revealed that only 17 percent of the doses was used in private hospitals last month.

Therefore, private hospitals are left with a large part of the unused vaccine. According to data released by the Health Ministry on June 4, 7.4 crore doses were provided across the country in may, out of which 1.85 crore doses were given to private hospitals. Private hospitals purchased 1.29 doses of the vaccine available, but government data shows that only 22 lakh doses were used.

However, experts say that the price of vaccination in private hospitals is high, so people are moving to government hospitals and that is why such a large number of vaccines are available in private hospitals. The government issued a statement saying that some media reports claimed that 25 percent of the vaccine was allocated to private hospitals, out of which only 7.5 percent were administered by hospitals. However, the government termed such claims as unfair and said that they do not match the data available with us.
