Bollywood actress Priyanka Chopra who is doing great in West film Industry too premiered her regional film Pahuna: The Little Visitors at the Toronto International Film Festival.
The film which is made under Priyanka Chopra's production house Purple Pebble Pictures received a standing ovation after its screening. After the screening of the film, while interacting with international media, PeeCee had said, “This (north-east) is a part of India which does not get seen too much, does not get too many people coming and visiting. But it is a little piece of heaven.. the stories, these kids and the perspectives that you saw when it comes to conversions, when it comes to religion, when it comes to kids being replaced and not knowing their parents and where they are going...it is such a special and important story and I think Paaki told it very well.”
Priyanka also said, “Sikkim is a small state in the Northeast of India which never had a film industry of its own or anyone who made films from there and this is the first film ever that came out from this region because it is very troubled by insurgency..”
Priyanka's statement within no time started receiving hates by the Twitterati. Biswatosh Sinha, a scriptwriter wrote: "Dear Priyanka Chopra, Sikkim is a peaceful place and #Pahuna is not the first film from the region. Plz, get the facts right about Northeast."
However, Priyanka Chopra has already apologized to the Sikkim government and Ugen Gyatso said: "Her mother spoke to me over the phone and has apologized for the comment."
Ugen Gyatso is the tourism minister of Sikkim.
