Bengaluru: The prohibitory orders implemented in riot-affected areas have been extended till Tuesday after violence erupted in some parts of Bengaluru city last week. During the riots, 3 people lost their lives in police firing. This order will be effective from the morning of sixteen August to the morning of eighteen August.

Bengaluru Police Commissioner Kamal Pant has said in his order that a ban has been imposed on more than 2 people gathering at any place, carrying weapons of any kind and calling any public meeting. He further said that strict action will be taken against those who violate it. Significantly, the crowd had turned violent on Tuesday night in DJ Halli and the surrounding area after P Naveen, a relative of Congress MLA R Akhand Srinivas Murthy from Pulakeshi Nagar, shared an allegedly objectionable post on social media. Police had opened fire and 3 people died during this period.

The rioters set fire to the vehicles and several private vehicles of the police besides MLA's residence and DJ Halli police station. The rioters also looted the MLA and his sister's residence. At the same time, about two hundred people have been arrested and several others have been detained by the Bangalore Police so far in the case of violence.
