Punjab: Will parents have to pay 70 percent school fees?

The Punjab-Haryana High Court, while hearing the petition of the Private School Association of the Indian state of Punjab, has issued a notice to the Punjab government seeking an answer. While filing the petition, it was said on behalf of the association that according to the order issued by the Punjab government, they cannot take school fees from the parents.

In his statement, the petitioner Private School Association said that they have to pay salaries to the teachers, besides, they are not taking transport charges etc. In such a situation, the amount that is made for the fees will be paid by the parents. The petitioners association said that if they do not take the fees then they will not be able to pay the teachers. In such a case, issue a High Court order to give this amount to the parents.

Apart from this, after hearing the association's favor, the High Court has issued interim orders to the parents to deposit 70 percent of the fees. Along with this, the High Court has ordered schools to pay minimum 70 percent salary to teachers and other staff. In response to the notice issued on the petition, the Punjab government will have to file a reply in the High Court on the next hearing.
