Amritsar: On the occasion of International Drug Abuse Day, Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh has claimed that if the drug supply chain is successfully broken, Punjab will soon be able to completely eradicate the menace of drugs. CM Amarinder claimed that the Punjab government is firm on its commitment to eradicate drug abuse from the state. He said that the state government is fully committed in ensuring a drug-free and beneficial future for our younger generations.

Addressing the people of the state on the occasion of International Day of Drug Addiction, the Punjab CM said in his message that the state has successfully broken the back of the drugs syndicate. Creating a drug-free society and environment in Punjab is the biggest priority of the state government and will continue to be so. It is noteworthy that on 7 December 1987, the United Nations General Assembly had proposed 'International Anti-Drug Prohibition Day' to liberate people from narcotics. Since then, every year on 26 June, 'International Day of Drug Addiction' is celebrated.

The main purpose of celebrating 'International Day of Drug Addiction Day' is to tell people its ill effects so that they can choose the right path in life. Through this day, people are made aware of drug abuse and illegal trade. On this day, various communities and organizations all over the world run various programs to make people aware of the drug at the regional level.
