Punjab CM turns down suggestion Gandhi and Sidhu about opium legalization

Amritsar: Punjab CM Amarindera Singh has turned down the suggestion of Dharmveer Gandhi and Congress leader Navjot Singh Sidhu. The one of teh said that it is not possible in the state and and he has not knowledge about ground information and said that state is fighting against intoxicants.

The demand of the legalization of opum is raised by Aam Aadmi Party MP Dharmaveer Gandhi created quite headlines. In response to this CM Singh said that It’s time to have a national drug policy to control the drug menace, as he has always maintained. He further added that he is because the issue of opium cultivation has taken centre stage again. On saying about the significance of resolving the matter, the Singh said that One state growing drugs like opium to sell in another is not acceptable as it’s ruining younger generations. It’s crucial to resolve this matter once and for all. Singh also demanded to develop strict drug policy to ban the drug.

Earlier, Aam Aadmi Party Dharmaveer Gandhi had said that opium cultivation in the state needs to be made legal. Sidhu also had  supported the statement by saying that his uncle used opium in the form of medicine and he survived for a long time.
