Chandigarh: Punjab Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla warned the public not to fall prey to the online fraudsters who pledged to give smartphones for free under the 'Punjab Smart Connect Scheme'. Taking serious notice of fake messages circulating on WhatsApp and other social media platforms, Singla said that the 'Punjab Smart Connect Scheme' is only for 12th class students of goverment schools and they are provided free smartphones based on admission in government schools Its being done. Therefore, there is no question of bringing other people under the ambit of such a scheme.
Education Minister said that the State Government has not started any such site or social media platform on which registrations for smartphones are being done. He has issued a warning to online fraudsters to suffer serious consequences under the cybercrime prevention laws. He told the public not to click on mobile messages or such messages and URL links being spread through WhatsApp, where the government has been asked to register to give free smartphones.
Singla warned that by clicking on such fraudulent messages, control of your mobile can be hacked. He said that the graphics circulating on social media will see pictures of Punjab CM and proforma for registration under the title 'Captain Smartphone Distribution Scheme 2020', which needs to be cautious. The education minister has requested to know that he should be fully aware of such messages, URL links and if anyone comes to such a message, then do not share it with other people, but be deleted immediately.
