Farmers' protest still continues in Punjab! Protesters demanded this from Channi

Amritsar: Farmers protesting against the Congress government in Punjab with the intention of pressurising it over several demands including waiver met state CM Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday and placed their demands before the administration. According to farmer leader Joginder Singh, the farmers informed CM Channi about their demands.

The demands of farmers include waiver of agricultural loans, withdrawal of cases registered against farmers during the anti-agricultural law movement and compensation for land acquired for highway projects. The farmers also demanded that their vehicles be allowed to move toll-free in a meeting with Punjab CM Channi. In view of the demands of the farmers, CM Channi assured that he will discuss the matter with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.

Talking to the media, Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) Ekta Ugrahan Punjab President Joginder Singh said that the next meeting between the state administration and the protesting farmers will be held on December 29. Joginder Singh said, "We met CM Channi today on our demands, which included farm loan waiver, compensation etc. CM Channi has said that he will talk to Union minister Nitin Gadkari on the same. The next meeting is on December 29."
