The Punjab government has administered over 2 crore doses of Covid-19 vaccine so far, Deputy Chief Minister Om Prakash Soni said. He went on to say 1.48 crore people had got the first dose while 52 lakh got both doses. The Deputy Chief Minister, who is also holding the Health portfolio, mentioned 2.16 lakh people got vaccinated on Tuesday.  He said Soni said 1.77 crore doses of Covishield and 23 lakh doses of Covaxin had been administered. Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Amritsar, Hoshiarpur and Patiala were the top five districts in immunisation.

Soni said in the age group of 18-44 years 1.07 crore people had been vaccinated, while 55 lakh in 45-60 years and 38 lakh people 60 years and above.

Meanwhile, overall, India has administered more than  92 crore doses of the Covid-19 vaccine so far, according to the official data from the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. As per the data, as of October 6,  morning, 92,17,65,405 total doses of the vaccine were administered in the country. This includes 66,72,46,479 first doses and 25,45,18,926 second doses. 59,48,360 people were vaccinated in the last 24 hours. Of this, 32,32,655 received their first dose while 27,15,705 received their second.
