Amritsar: In Kapurthala district of Punjab, police opened fire on a 24-year-old International Kabaddi player and his friend who were going by car during curfew. In this incident, kabaddi player Arvinderjit Singh died on the spot, while his friend is seriously injured. Actually, the police feared that these two people might attack the police, so the soldier opened fire. This information has been given by Punjab Police.

According to the police, the incident took place on Thursday night in Padda village of Lakhan. He has told that Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) Paramjit Singh opened fire on Arvinderjit Singh, killing him, while Pradeep Singh is seriously injured. He told that his friend Mangu was going to leave the village in an ASI car when he saw a vehicle coming towards him in the curfew area around 10 pm.

According to the police, ASI and his friend chased Arvinderjeet's car and pointed the car to a halt at which the car stopped. When Arvinderjeet and his friend went to the car, Paramjit himself fired 4 to 5 bullets from a government pistol in anticipation of an attack, which killed Arvinderjeet while his friend was injured.
