Dr. Avneet Kaur, Director, Punjab Health Services, has implemented precautionary steps for the whole of Punjab, using the powers obtained under Rule 12 (9) of the Epidemic Diseases Act 1897. Under these, it is mandatory for every person to wear cotton clothes or triple layer masks while going to public places, streets, offices, markets. The person traveling in any vehicle is also required to use the mask.

Curfew will be lifted in Punjab from tomorrow, the lockdown will continue till May 31. In which it is necessary to wear masks even while working in office, workplace, factory. Masks made of cotton cloth, handkerchief, scarf can be used in the house as a mask. It has also been made clear in the order that if a person goes to a public place without a mask, he will be fined Rs 200.

If a person violates the home quarantine, then he will be fined Rs 500. Apart from this, if a person is found spitting in a public place, then a fine of Rs 100 will be charged. The responsibility of implementing this order has been entrusted to the BDPO, Naib Tehsildar, ASI and above rank police officers and officials of urban bodies and municipal corporations.
