Amritsar: Punjab got a new CM in the form of Charanjeet Singh Channi on Monday. The Congress high command has crowned Channi by removing Captain Amarinder Singh, who was once one of the closest to the Gandhi family. After the captain's leave, reports of the Vadra-Gandhi family reaching Shimla for a holiday are now coming to light. According to media reports, as soon as Channi is free from the swearing-in ceremony, Rahul Gandhi has reached the cell of his sister Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on the outskirts of Shimla, which has been in controversy since its inception.

Priyanka and her mother, Congress Executive President Sonia Gandhi, had already arrived here. Priyanka's house is located in Chharabara, about 15 kilometres from Shimla. In 2020, when action was taken on actress Kangana Ranaut's property in Mumbai, the residents also demanded that Priyanka's illegal bungalow be demolished. Priyanka has already received a notice from the High Court over the house. In fact, the house is built in the VVIP area, adjoining the President's summer residence, The Retreat. State that the property has been questioned from the beginning citing Section 118 of the Himachal Pradesh Tenancy and Land Reforms Act. This section provides that nobody can take land in an external State. If any person is interested, he has to seek approval under Section 118 of the Land Act. It is approved by the State Government in the Cabinet. However, Priyanka Vadra is said to have followed the process. However, the demand of the activists and petitioners is to bring documents on record relating to this land. Himachal Congress leader Kehar Singh Khachi is said to be the power of attorney of the plot.

According to the report, the land for this house was purchased in 2007, 2011 and 2013. The Virbhadra Singh government of Congress had first allowed Priyanka to buy land in 2007 by relaxing the rules. Later, other Governments are also asked to get such special permission. Priyanka had also easily received NOC from the President's Secretariat for the same, even though the owners of the land had tried to sell it before that, so they could not get NOC. Construction of a house on this land began in 2008. It was ready in nearly 10 years and Priyanka entered the house in 2019. The house was demolished once before that because Priyanka did not like the design.
