The Rajasthani government announced on Friday that the Ujjwala Yojana scheme will provide consumers with LPG cylinders for Rs. 500 per unit, covering 76 lakh families. The state government led by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot unveiled its annual budget for 2023–24 on Friday.

Gehlot stated in December 2022 that the people living below the poverty line (BPL) will be entitled to buy  12 cylinders annually for Rs 500 each.

Among others, new hostels and science parks for youth would be established, the chief minister said. Auditoriums will be set up in three key towns estimated to cost Rs 50 crore.

Along with allocating Rs 13,000 for ERCAP scheme projects, a 1,100 megawatt lignite-based power production unit will be built.
Notably, the state government has opted to offer Old Pension Scheme benefits to the workers of the state's corporations, boards, and commissions as well as power producing firms.

A government worker is entitled to a monthly pension after retirement under the previous pension plan. The average monthly pension equals half of the recipient's most recent pay.

Employees contribute a percentage of their salaries to the pension fund under the new pension plan. They are qualified for a one-time lump sum payment from their superannuation as a result.

The previous pension plan was cancelled in December 2003, and the new pension plan took effect on April 1 of the following year.

Some states, especially those run by the opposition, have said they will go back to the previous system.
