Jaipur: The controversy over the alleged indecent remarks made by former BJP spokesperson Nupur Sharma on Prophet Mohammad is not taking its name to stop. Now a woman councillor of BJP in Rajasthan has resigned from the party in protest against Nupur Sharma's remarks. Tabassum Mirza is a councillor of ward number 14 in Kota from the BJP. She has sent her resignation to party state president Satish Poonia and district president Krishna Kumar Soni on Monday. In this, she has also given the reason for her resignation.

Tabassum Mirza joined the BJP 10 years ago. In a letter to the district president, Mirza said that she is resigning from the primary membership of the party. She wrote that in the present circumstances, it is not possible to work in the party. In a letter to Satish Poonia, Mirza expressed grief over being a member of the BJP and said that the BJP had failed to control its workers who were criticising Nabi. She further said that if she remains a member of the BJP and supports the party even after being against the Prophet, there will be no greater culprit than her. In such a situation, she can no longer work with this party. She announced her resignation via email and post.

Nupur Sharma, who was suspended from the BJP, had made an alleged objectionable statement about Prophet Mohammad in a TV debate. The controversy has continued since then. Even several Muslim countries including Kuwait, Qatar,  Saudi Arabia, Oman, UAE, Jordan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Bahrain, and Iran had issued statements condemning it.
