New Delhi: The Rajya Sabha was adjourned until noon on Monday due to the Opposition's ruckus over rising prices of petroleum products and essential commodities across the country.

After rejecting the notice of a few members, including CPI MP from Kerala Binoy Viswam, under Rule 267, a united Opposition, including Congress, Shiv Sena, and Trinamool Congress, began raising slogans, requesting Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu to hold a discussion in the House over price hike.

Several MPs stood near their seats and began sloganeering, demanding that a debate be held on the price increases of petroleum products and essential commodities. Chairman of the Rajya Sabha said, their notices on the issues have been rejected, but they can raise them later in the day. The Chairman attempted to conduct Zero Hour amid the din, but was forced to adjourn the House until noon as the MPs continued their protests.

Last month, the Upper House faced a similar protest, forcing it to adjourn due to rising fuel prices across the country.

Notably, petrol in the National Capital is currently priced at Rs 103.81 per litre, up from Rs 103.41 on Sunday.
