Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, the legendary stock market investor who died last year at the age of 62, is set to receive the Padma Shri award posthumously today,  March 22, 2023. 

Jhunjhunwala's outstanding achievements to the world of trade and industry are honoured with this award. The ceremony will take place in the evening, and it is anticipated that the deceased investor's family will be present to accept the prize on his behalf.

The President of India presents the Padma Awards, one of the highest civilian honours in India, at a formal ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan.

On the occasion of the 74th Republic Day, the Ministry of Home Affairs issued the announcement. The so-called "Indian Warren Buffet," Jhunjhunwala, passed away on August 14, 2022, at the age of 62.
He was born on July 5, 1960, grew up in Bombay, and before enrolling at the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India in 1985, he completed his studies at Sydenham College. Jhunjhunwala was married to Rekha Jhunjhunwala, a prominent stock market investor who shared his enthusiasm for trading.

The founder of RARE Enterprises, a privately held stock trading company, was Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. He was a fervent supporter of the Indian stock market, and his investments frequently generated substantial profits. The newest airline in India, Akasa Air, started flying earlier this month, and Jhunjhunwala also owned it.

Areez Khambatta, the creator of the well-known soft drink company Rasna, will also get a posthumous Padma Shri in the trade and industry category in addition to Jhunjhunwala.
