New Delhi: Bharatiya Kisan Union and Khap organizations will not reach Jantar Mantar on June 9. Farmer leader Rakesh Tikait had announced a few days ago after a mahapanchayat in Kurukshetra that if Brij bhushan Sharan Singh was not arrested by June 9, he would reach Jantar Mantar along with the wrestlers. However, this will not happen now. The programme has been cancelled. Bajrang Punia had also asked farmers and khap panchayats not to take decisions in the mahapanchayat on Sunday (June 4).

According to the report, farmer leader Rakesh Tikait has said, "Right now their (wrestlers) talks are going on with the government and the Union Home Minister. At their behest, we have postponed the protest at Jantar Mantar on June 9. We will definitely come to support the wrestlers in whatever date they give in the coming days. Bajrang Punia, Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik met Union Home Minister Amit Shah late on Saturday night. The meeting lasted two hours."

Olympic medallist Bajrang Punia arrived at Mundlana Panchayat in Sonipat the next day after meeting Amit Shah. Addressing farmers and khap panchayats here, he said, "I request you not to take any decision right now. Soon we wrestlers will call all the organizations on one platform and organize a big panchayat. A decision on the mahapanchayat will be taken in 3 to 4 days. Along with this, everyone will also be informed about the place and time of the panchayat. ”
