Lucknow: BJP's Lok Sabha MP Varun Gandhi's rhetoric against the party is not going to stop. He has now also raised questions about the night curfew imposed to deal with Omicron in the state. Varun Gandhi tweeted that curfew is being imposed at night and lakhs of people are gathering at rallies during the day. This development is beyond the comprehension of the general public.
Varun Gandhi tweeted on Monday, "Curfew at night and calling lakhs of people at rallies during the day - it is beyond the comprehension of the general public. In view of the limited health arrangements in Uttar Pradesh, we have to honestly decide whether our priority is to stop the spread of catastrophic omicrons or show electoral power. Varun Gandhi said policymakers should take the lead from the front to motivate the common people to stay indoors.
Gandhi said maximum infection usually occurs during the day as there are fewer people on the roads at night. He appealed for a strict cut in social functions, which could lead to the spread of corona. He referred to the Note sent by the Centre to the Maharashtra government in March 2021, stating that measures like night curfew, weekend lockdown have a very limited impact on preventing or reducing the spread of infection.
