Assam: President Ram Nath Kovind spoke at Tezpur University's 19th Convocation on Saturday, praising Assam for doing a "commendable job in protecting bio-diversity" and emphasising that conservation must be a "watchword for every citizen." President Ram Nath Kovind, speaking at the ceremony, stated, "Assam has done an excellent job of preserving biodiversity. The Elephant Reserve, as well as the Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, are excellent examples of conservation. Every person, particularly the student community, must practise conservation."

The President stated that "the students and professors of Tezpur University should attempt to make it a major centre of innovation," emphasising that the university should "offer innovative answers to local and national problems." He asked them to foster community involvement and to use local resources to solve local and national problems.

Noting that organic farming is a top priority in the North-Eastern states, the President stated that Tezpur University can play a key role in branding and promoting the region's agricultural products. The President, citing the fact that the Covid pandemic has had an influence on academic activities, stated that the pandemic has had a major impact on the education of the relatively vulnerable sectors of our population.

"During the epidemic, the National Education Policy 2020 was launched, and it has a strong focus on digital education with the support of technology," he stated.
