New Delhi: President Ram Nath Kovind on Thursday expressed his sympathies to the families of people who died after falling down a well during a wedding ceremony in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh.

"I was saddened to learn of the tragic news of many people, including women and children, being killed in an accident in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh. My heartfelt condolences go out to all of the families who have lost loved ones in this awful event. I wish the injured person a quick recovery "Rashtrapati Bhavan sent out a tweet.

Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, has also expressed his condolences for the fatalities and wished the injured a swift recovery. "The loss of residents at Village Naurangia School Tola in District Kushinagar in an unfortunate tragedy is very saddening. My thoughts are with the deceased's devastated families. Wishing the injured Lord Shri Ram a fast recovery, "He sent out a tweet. The Chief Minister has ordered that rescue and relief activities be carried out as soon as possible, and that the injured be treated properly.

On Wednesday night, 13 people died after falling down a well during wedding celebrations in the Nebua Naurangia area of Uttar Pradesh's Kushinagar district.
