Chandigarh: Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh, who is serving a sentence in Sunaria jail in Haryana, has been granted parole for 40 days. Official sources have given information in this regard on Friday. The decision comes ahead of the Adampur assembly bypoll. The Adampur bypoll is scheduled for November 3. Earlier, Ram Rahim was released on a month's parole in June and his three-week furlough was granted in February.

Haryana Jail Minister Ranjit Singh examined Ram Rahim's application on October 11. He had said that 'The parole application has been examined by the concerned authorities. Decision will be taken as per law. The Dera chief is currently imprisoned in Rohtak's Sunaria Jail. Chances are being raised that the Dera in Sirsa or Rajasthan will remain on the premises, for which the preparations have already started.'

How many times did Ram Rahim get parole?

In 2021, Ram Rahim came out of jail on parole three times. However, in the year 2022, he got parole twice. During that time, Ram Rahim was out for 21 days in February and June. According to jail officials, Ram Rahim can get parole for at least 40 days before December 31, 2022. If a criminal completes the stipulated years in captivity, he can stay out of jail for 90 days a year.
