New Delhi: Vietnam President Tran Dai Quang, who is on a three-day state visit to India, landed here on late Friday evening.

EAM taking head Ravessh Kumar said, “Warm welcome to the Vietnamese President, Tran Dai Quang and his wife Nguyen Thi Hien on a State visit to India! Vietnam is an important pillar in India's #ActEastPolicy and the two countries share civilization relationship spanning over 2000 years,” he tweeted.

President Quang began his trip by visiting Bodh Gaya in Bihar, which is one of the well-regarded Buddhist holy sites in the world, on Friday morning.

Quang aims to reinforce their partnership to ward off China's mounting influence and will hold meeting with his Indian counterpart President Ram Nath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

President Quang is also likely to interact with well-known Indian businessmen and CEOs.

The Vietnamese President arrived India with an 18-member delegation, including ministers, party leaders, and businessmen.

Worth mentioning here Prime Minister Modi had visited Vietnam in 2016, a year before the two countries celebrated 45 adoration years of diplomatic ties.

During this visit, both sides signed 12 agreements in a wide range of areas covering IT, space, double taxation and sharing white shipping information.

India had also extended a USD 500 million Line of Credit to Vietnam for smoothing the progress of deeper defense cooperation between the two nations.
