New Delhi: The harsh winter of Delhi, including northern India, may have broken its 22-year-old record since 1997, but it has happened only four times in the last 100 years. The meteorological department has issued a red alert in 6 states including Delhi in view of severe winter.
According to the information received, from 1901 to 2018, only 4 times in 1919, 1929, 1961 and 1997, the average maximum temperature in December was less than 20 degrees. The average maximum temperature (MMT) stood at 19.85 ° C as on December 26, 2019 and the estimated maximum temperature for December is 19.15. If this happens, it is set to be the second coldest December of the 2019 century after December 1977. In this session, the lowest maximum temperature in Delhi in December was 12.2 degree Celsius on 18 December.
Winter has created a new record in Delhi. This is the first time since 1997 when the 11th consecutive day in Delhi has been extremely cold.
