New Delhi: The government is constantly making decisions to control the prices of oil. Talking to reporters in New Delhi today, the Food Secretary said that the Centre and the state are jointly controlling commodity prices faster than other countries. The Government is working at various levels to keep the prices of food items used daily under control. Necessary instructions have been issued to all concerned departments including States, FCI.

The same is being followed by an inter-ministerial committee meeting every week to control and monitor prices. The states have been asked to take steps to check black marketing on the occasion of Diwali. The production of mustard oil has increased by one million metric tonnes. Prices will see a fall by February 2022, but prices of other oils also rose as they rose in the international market.

A letter is again being sent by the Ministry to the State Governments today to take stringent steps against the hike in prices due to the same profiteering so that prices do not go up during festivals. On onion prices, Food Secretary Sudhanshu Pandey said onion prices are under control. There has not been that kind of jump in its prices. The situation is normal at present. There is no possibility of any ban on the export of onion. The Centre is providing onions to the States at the rate of Rs.26 per kg.
