Nashik: Following the unfortunate disaster of the (LTT) Jaynagar Pawan Express on Sunday afternoon, the railway officials are restoring the railway track between Lahavit and Devlali in Nashik on a priority basis.

Shivaji M Sutar, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Central Railway in Mumbai, kept his Twitter followers up to date on the restoration efforts on the damaged track.

He wrote on Twitter, "@Central Railway is making every attempt to reopen the line as quickly as possible. The crew on the overhead equipment wire van is working overtime to complete the job in schedule. Between Lahavit and Devlali, there is a derailment site."

According to CPRO, all derailed carriages were toppled by 6.20 a.m. on Monday morning, and restoration work is expected to be completed by today afternoon.

Work on connecting the tracks is now underway. About 300 metres of track have been destroyed, and 500 workers are working on the site. For the restoration work, two JCB, four Hydra, and two Poclain machines were used. Work on replacing sleepers and rails, as well as track packing, is now underway, according to the officer.

All trains on the Devlali-Lahavit route have been cancelled or diverted due to the catastrophe.

On Sunday afternoon about 3.10 pm, 11 coaches of the Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT)-Jaynagar Pawan Express derailed near Nashik between Lahavit and Devlali in the Bhusaval division.

The train derailment resulted in minor injuries to two passengers, who were treated at the scene. On Sunday, the Central Railway was notified.
