New Delhi: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the names of the winners for the Player of the Month Award on Tuesday. Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, England captain Joe Root has been selected for this award. Rishabh Pant has been nominated for the award for his unbeaten 89 against Brisbane at 97 against Australia in Sydney, while Joe Root played superb innings of 228 and 186 against Sri Lanka.

The third candidate in this race is Ireland's Paul Stirling, who has played three ODIs against Afghanistan, two against UAE. Among the women, Diana Bag of Pakistan, Shabnim Ismail of South Africa is named. Mr. Bag has taken nine wickets in three ODIs against South Africa, while Ismail has taken seven wickets from his team. The third name is of South African all-rounder Marijane Cap, who scored 115 runs at a strike rate of 110.57 and also took three wickets while playing against Pakistan.

The ICC began last month inaugurating the ICC Player of the Month Award to give a new identity to the performance of the best performing female cricketers in every format throughout the year. The award nominating committee of the ICC will decide three nominations for each category. The winner will be announced on the second Monday of the month.
