Pashupati Kumar Paras, the president of Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP), has tendered his resignation as Union Minister in light of the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) decision to allocate seats to Chirag Paswan's faction for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Paras announced his resignation from the Union Minister post on Monday, expressing his discontent after the BJP finalized its seat-sharing agreement with Chirag Paswan's faction for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, set to commence from April 19 in seven phases.

Addressing the media, Paras stated, "Yesterday, the NDA alliance announced the list of 40 candidates for Bihar Lok Sabha...Our party had five MPs and I worked with utmost sincerity...Injustice has been done with us & our party. Therefore, I resign from the post of Union Minister."

The announcement came shortly after the BJP-led NDA revealed its seat-sharing deal, granting five seats to Chirag Paswan's LJP (Ram Vilas). The allocated seats include Jamui, Samastipur, Hajipur, Vaishali, and Khagaria.

Paras refrained from divulging his future plans during the press conference. However, sources within RLJP hinted that the party might proceed with announcing its own candidates for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections independently from the BJP.

Although the BJP purportedly offered Paras significant positions, including the Governor of Bihar, he appears dissatisfied with the arrangement and contemplates contesting the general elections autonomously.

Pashupati Kumar Paras, the incumbent representative of the Hajipur constituency in Lok Sabha, inherited the seat from RLJP stalwart late Ram Vilas Paswan.

As the political landscape gears up for the forthcoming elections, Paras's resignation underscores the shifting alliances and strategies within the Bihar political sphere.
