Bijapur: Five tourists were killed in a head-on collision between a Barat train and a pickup in the district late Wednesday night. While 36 people have been injured. The injured have been admitted to hospitals in Giddam, Dantewada, Nelsnar, Bijapur, Bhairamgarh for treatment. Several injured persons are in critical condition. More than three dozen people were reportedly on board the train. The pickup also overturned after the collision and the people sitting in it were buried. Police rushed the stranded people to the hospital with the help of locals.

According to information, procession was came from Titori village to Dantewada. All of them were returning late at around 11 p.m. in a pickup. The driver of the Barat train was reportedly drunk and was driving at high speed. They had just arrived at the Nelsnar area on NH 63 in Bijapur, bringing another faulty pickup from the front.

One succumbed to his injuries while bringing Dantewada. Five people are reported to have died in the incident so far.
