The federation has lifted the two-year ban on Asian Games medalist Roar Dattu Bhokanal with immediate effect after objections from Anju Bobby George, a member of the IOA Athletes Commission. On behalf of the federation, it was said that his athlete commission has instructed that the ban on Dattu should be lifted from 30 April 2019. Only then this ban is being lifted. Dattu can now stake his claim for the Olympic qualifiers to be held in Korea from April 27. While taking disciplinary action, the Federation Dattu was banned for two years. There were many serious allegations against him. Because of which they were banned.

The Rowing Federation of India (RFI) filed a reply before the Sports Ministry on Wednesday seeking a one-month deferment from them. The ministry had on Wednesday ruled to cancel the February 1 recognition of the federation. In a letter written to the ministry, Federation President Rajalakshmi Singh Dev said that if the ban is imposed from February 29, then it will be in the interest of the Roars. The Federation has also told the Ministry that elections are being conducted on its behalf in the third week of February.

Actually, the ministry has shown too much haste in this matter. Usually, before any sports association is revoked, a show-cause notice is issued to it, but it has not been done here. Not only this, the Ministry does not give any direct order to the IOA to avoid interference in autonomy under the IOC Charter. Here the ministry not only cancelled the recognition of the Federation but also asked the IOA to set up ad hoc committee from February 1.
