Mumbai: RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat attended an event of Muslim intellectuals held in Mumbai last Monday. Speaking at a seminar on 'Rashtra Pratham-Rashtra Sarvopari,' he said, "The British fought Hindus and Muslims by creating a misconception. The British told the Muslims that if they decided to live with the Hindus, they would get nothing, only Hindus would be elected and motivated them to demand a separate (nation). Islam will be eradicated from India. Did this happen? No, Muslims can occupy all the positions.''

At the same time, he also said, "The ancestors of Hindus and Muslims living in India are the same. The British created confusion. He told Hindus that Muslims are extremists. They fought both communities. As a result of that fight and lack of trust, the two have been talking about keeping a distance from each other. We need to change our vision.'' On the other hand, he said that the ancestors of Hindus and Muslims were the same and every Indian is a Hindu.

In his further address, he said, "Sensible Muslim leaders should stand firm against fundamentalists. The word Hindu is equal to the motherland, ancestor, and Indian culture. It is not a disrespect to other ideas. We have to think not about Muslim supremacy, but about Indian supremacy. Everyone should work together for the overall development of India. Islam came with invaders. It is history and it should be told in the same way.''

Mohan Bhagwat also said, "Sensible Muslim leaders should oppose unnecessary issues and stand firm against fundamentalists and extremists. The sooner we do this, the less harm it will do to society. India as a superpower will not scare anyone. The word Hindu is equal to the rich heritage of our motherland, ancestors, and culture and every Indian is a Hindu.''
