AGRA: Driving out misconceptions about the right-wing group RSS among students of the minority community, Activists of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) have written a letter to Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) vice-chancellor Tariq Mansoor seeking permission to conduct ‘shakha’ (camps) inside the campus.

In the letter, they have noted that it will be significant for them to familiarize students with the outfit’s real ideology.

According to TOI, RSS activist Mohammad Ameer Rashid wrote in the letter, “There is a dire need for the students to know the truth about the RSS. Many students are giving baseless statements against the organisation and spreading misinformation.”

He said that RSS is fully devoted to nation’s service, and works without religious unfairness.

“Misconceptions about the RSS among AMU students will dissipate once ‘shakhas’ start in the campus,” the letter read.

Aligarh Muslim University Students Union President Mashkoor Ahmad Usmani opposed the move and said that AMU is an educational institute, not a political hub.

“We will oppose this move. RSS’s ideology is to divide the nation and they will not be allowed to enter the campus. If required, students will fight for it.”

While Member in-charge of public relation of the university, Shafey Kidwai, asserted that he was not aware of the matter and if some application has been given by  RSS then the VC will take a decision.
