New Delhi: The Delhi Police on Monday opposed the bail plea of wrestler Sushil Kumar, who is in judicial custody for the Sagar Rana murder case, in the Delhi High Court, saying witnesses in the case are scared of the wrestler and his associates. Olympic medal winner wrestler Sushil Kumar is the main accused in the case. The Delhi Police in its status report has said that the accused is the main accused in the present case and had hatched the conspiracy along with other co-accused and arranged weapons and men to abduct the victims from various places, including mobilisation of dreaded criminals from Haryana and Delhi for the crime.   

The police told the High Court that since the accused is a very influential and high profile person, his witnesses have been influenced/influenced by him. There is every possibility of threat. Police said he is a globetrotter around the world and if he is granted bail, he could even abscond. The status report of Delhi Police also said that after the incident, the accused Sushil Kumar along with his accomplices had fled the spot and had disappeared the evidence i.e. clothes, mobile phones, weapons of crime, DVR etc. to avoid the police.  

Police said it was a very serious case in which 18 accused have been arrested so far. Investigations are still underway to arrest the remaining accused identified in the case. The matter was listed for hearing before a bench of Talwant Singh on Monday, the next hearing of which will now be on April 24.
