On Friday, Saina Nehwal continued her good run in the ongoing Malaysia Masters where she defeated Japan's Nozomi Okuhara by 21-18, 23-21 in their 48 minutes clash to book her berth for the semi-final. Nehwal dominated most parts of the clash and won 44 rallies as compared to Okuhara’s figure of 39.

While the first game was neck-to-neck at 9-9 at one stage, Okuhara changed gears to win six points in a row. Saina put all her experience into count as she fought back after trailing 9-15 and 14-18 down in the two games. The match lasted for 48 minutes. Saina will now take on Spain’s Carolina Marin for a spot in the final. Compared to Okuhara, Saina's record against the might Spaniard isn't impressive as she has lost to Marin five times in their last ten meetings.

This is a fast tournament of Mrs Nehwal. Last year on December 16, 2019, Sania got married to her fellow badminton player Parupalli Kashyap. Both the lovebirds belong to Hyderabad and play the same sport, which is what got them closer.
