New Delhi: Before Holi, central government employees may get the gift of a salary hike. The central employees have been waiting for the increase in dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) and housing rental allowance (HRA) for a long time. The government has not officially said anything about this so far, but according to all the media reports, this may be announced before Holi. After the announcement of the All India Consumer Price Index, the possibility of an increase in DA has become stronger.

Media reports have claimed that the government may increase the dearness allowance (DA) of central employees by up to three per cent. The government will announce an increase in DA on the recommendation of the 7th Pay Commission. Let us know that central government employees are currently getting a dearness allowance equal to 31 per cent of the basic pay.

Earlier in October 2021, the government had announced to increase the dearness allowance from 28 per cent to 31 per cent. The hike was effective from July 1, 2021. If the central government decides to increase the dearness allowance by three per cent before Holi, the central employees will get a dearness allowance equal to 34 per cent. The decision will benefit about 48 lakh central employees and 69 lakh pensioners.
