Lucknow: Polling is underway in 58 seats spread over 11 districts in the first phase of Uttar Pradesh. Meanwhile, in many places, there are allegations of EVM malfunctioning and threatening not to vote. The Samajwadi Party (SP) has alleged that an elderly man tried to vote for a bicycle in Agra's Bah seat, but the officials pressed the lotus button.

In its complaint to the Election Commission, the SP has alleged that a 70-year-old man wanted to vote on a bicycle at booth number 126 of Bah assembly seat, but the employees cast their votes on kamal. At the same time, the SP has accused the husband of a BJP candidate from Bah, Pasalika Singh, of threatening voters. The SP has also alleged that BJP men are casting two votes each at booth number 253, 354 in Etmadpur seat of Agra, they are not being stopped by the presiding officer.

The SP said similarly, at booth number 122, 123 in Agra Cantt, the BJP people have been accused of preventing Muslim voters from casting their votes. The SP has written to the Election Commission about the problems being faced during polling not only in Agra but also in several districts including Meerut. The SP has alleged that at booth number 22, 125 in Sardhana seat, BJP's goons are preventing Dalits and people from Kashyap community from casting their votes, the election commission should take immediate action on it.
