Saradha chit fund scam: Accused Debyani Mukherjee gets bail but will have to stay in jail

New Delhi: Saradha chit fund scam accused Debyani Mukherjee has been granted bail by the Calcutta High Court on Saturday. She has been granted bail in every case related to the scam. Debyani Mukherjee was made a co-accused with Sharda Group promoter Sudipta Sen in the scam. However, Debyani will not be able to be released from jail even after getting bail from the Calcutta High Court.

Because many cases related to the scam have also been registered against her in Jharkhand and Odisha and she has not been granted bail in those cases. She will now be kept in the Women's Correctional Home in Alipur. Sharda company promoters Sudipta Sen and Debyani Mukherjee were arrested from Sonmarg in Kashmir in 2013. The Sharda company had launched several Ponzi schemes in Bengal, allegedly fraud with millions of people. In 2013, when it was exposed, thousands and crores of rupees we're looted.

CBI is investigating the chit fund scam. In December last year, the scam was claimed to be related to the WIRE CM Relief Fund. CBI had claimed that about 6.21 crore taras from cm relief funds were given to TV, a company of Sharada Group. These money was used to pay salaries to employees. CBI claimed to have involved the names of big people in the entire scam.
