Raipur: After wearing Kosa's saree once in marriage, the woman gave it to her to dry clean. The saree was replaced with red color by mistake of dry cleaners. The woman refused to take it and asked for the price. The shopkeeper did not return the price. The matter was registered in the Women's District Consumer Forum Raipur, then the consumer forum ordered the dry cleaners to return the saree to the woman and provide half the price along with interest and mental compensation.

Surya Apartment Kotaratlab resident Pushpa alias Pushpala Bakshi gave a kosa saree for a dry wash in Unicline Drycline located in the same apartment, along with two other saris for stream press. On 31 January 2019, a saree woman from Kosa bought weaver's croft from Raipur for Rs 11,025. At the same time, after wearing it in a relative's sari, she was allowed to dry wash before putting it safe. Along with this, two other saris were also allowed to press steam. On July 2, 2019, Drycleaners gave a receipt for Rs 120 for a dry wash sari and Rs 120 for two-stream press saris.

On 9 July 2019, when the woman arrived to withdraw the saris, the saris of the stream press got proper protection, but the sari with the dry wash had red stains everywhere. On which the woman refused to take the saree and asked to return in the same condition in which she had given it. A few days later, the shopkeeper tore it wherever it had stained. When the woman came to know, she refused to take the saree and asked for the price. However, the shopkeeper refused to pay the price. Avinash Tiwari, chairman of the District Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum and member Priya Aggarwal, in their order, has informed that the dry cleaners should return the saree. Also, from the date of payment from 9 September 2019, half the price of the saree should be Rs 5513 with a 6 percent interest. Apart from this, 2000 rupees of mental compensation and 1000 rupees of suit expenditure should also be given to the woman.
